More than just clean clothes ...

Senior Suds

Senior Suds is a program that offers free laundry vouchers for seniors in our community. This program is the result of a partnership between CtK, Clay Church Food Pantry, the St. Joseph County Health Department, and Burton’s Laundry.

Senior Suds is open to St. Joseph County residents age 55 and older who receive SNAP benefits. Here’s how it works:

  • Pre-register to receive a prepaid Burton’s Laundry card by calling Clay Church at (574) 272-8083 ext. 19. A staff member at Clay will explain how the process works, determine your eligibility, and reserve a card for you if all eligibility requirements are met. (Note that there are a limited number of laundry cards available, and participants may receive only one card per month.)

  • Stop by Clay Food Pantry during guest hours to pick up your laundry card. Be sure to bring your ID and SNAP card!

  • Use your laundry card at any Burton’s location at the time of your choosing, then return the card to Clay Church Food Pantry. (Failure to return the card will disqualify you from using the program in the future.)

Clay Church Food Pantry is located at 17646 Cleveland Road in South Bend. Guest hours are Mondays from 12–3 pm and Thursdays from 9 am–12 pm. In addition to picking up your laundry card, you can receive food pantry items. Hot meals are also offered for pickup on Mondays.

Laundry cards can be used at any Burton’s Laundry location. If you require assistance at the laundromat, a representative from the St. Joseph County Department of Health will be onsite at Burton’s River Park and Mishawaka Lincolnway West locations on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 9 am–12 pm.
