Join us in Loving and Serving
Lent @ CtK
Again this Lent, CtK is joining with several community partners in an effort to serve those who are hungry, thirsty, unknown (a stranger), poor, sick, and imprisoned.
This effort—called the Matthew 25 Project—offers many ways to explore the issues named in this well-known Scripture reading. There are opportunities to understand more fully with one’s mind, to experience more deeply with one’s heart, and to serve in some small way with one’s hands.
The following sections describe all of the Matthew 25 Project events in detail. For your convenience, we’ve organized the events into four broad focus areas: Worship, Giving, Service, and Arts and Awareness. A full calendar of events can be found at the bottom of the page.
To access this information in convenient booklet form, click here. Copies of the booklet are also available in the narthex.

Giving Opportunities
Wednesday, March 5, through Sunday, April 20
This Lent, CtK is continuing its commitment to make an impact in the lives of a local refugee family from Venezuela. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to help purchase a reliable vehicle for the family and provide funds for licensing, maintenance, and insurance. This investment will grant the family the independence needed to work, attend school, and fully integrate into their new community.
Contributions can be made in the form of monetary donations, or if you have a vehicle you’d like to offer, it can be donated to the cause. (Should the vehicle not meet the family’s needs, we have the ability to sell it and direct the proceeds toward their car fund.) If you would like to support this effort, please place your donation in the offering plate and mark it “Car Fund” or contact the church office.
Sunday, March 9 + Sunday, March 16
All are encouraged to bring in product donations for the Spring Break Food Pack initiative conducted in conjunction with Clay Food Pantry. Shopping lists, bags, and collection boxes will be available in the narthex on Sunday and throughout the week.
Sunday, March 23 + Sunday, March 30
In partnership with First Presbyterian Church, CtK is providing Easter baskets for approximately 230 children at LaSalle Park Homes, El Campito, and Hope for the Hungry. Bring in items to fill the baskets and help us bring joy to children in our community. Shopping lists and collection boxes will be available in the narthex on Sunday and throughout the week.
Sunday, April 6 + Sunday, April 13
As part of our “Little Free Art Library” project, CtK will provide the organizations who host our boxes with a starting stash of supplies. You can help by bringing in arts and crafts materials—crayons, markers, beads, paints, brushes, yarn, or anything else that ignites a creative spark! New and gently used items are welcome. (This is a great way to clear out leftover materials in your craft closet!) Collection boxes will be available in the narthex on Sunday and throughout the week.
Wednesdays from March 12 through April 9
Help feed attendees at our Wednesday “Soup & Art” discussion series by bringing in soup, bread, and/or cookies. Cook or bake at home (or make a stop at the grocery store), then drop off your items in Van Oort Hall by 5:30 pm each Wednesday. Sign up in the narthex to reserve your date.
